thoughts (for 40 days? important and unimportant)
- i really liked not having Facebook and Tumblr for Lent. admittedly, I’m happy to be back connected to the “real” world, but it was nice not to have that distraction while studying and being with friends.
- i fell in love (again) with Alison Krauss and Union Station. their new album is fan-freaking-tastic. if you only know her from her duet album from Robert Plant, UNHEAR IT. because she is SO much better than that. her new album “paper airplane” is one of the most beautifully constructed albums i’ve ever heard.
- got my hairs cut. lighter, same length. it’s glorious.
- i used this break from technology to really write stuff. i wrote my first real short-story, and i loved it. not necessarily how it turned out, or the piece itself, but the freedom of the form. i’ve never written anything like it before. more of those will be forthcoming.
- i forgot my obsession with sunflower seeds and baseball. that’s returning this summer. watch out, TT team!
- this summer i will be a teacher for Totus Tuus, which means I’ll be traveling to 6 different Lincoln diocese parishes and teaching them all about Mary and Jesus and how great the Catholic faith is. i’m super pumped, and a trillion degrees nervous. but mostly excited.
- current playlist: all decemberists, justin townes earle, sara watkins, nickel creek, and gillian welch. it is delicious.
- there were so many times this Lent that I wanted to post something funny or interesting on tumblr. and not allowing myself to do that was a strange feeling at first, but gratifying second. i don’t know how to explain it.
- i’m sure I’ll come up with more things to talk about later but…also, David and I have been dating for 2.5 months. i just had to throw that in there.

AHHHH REMEMBER WHEN WE WENT TO THE DECEMBERISTS?
Seriously though, Caitlin and Kfen and KCap and I went to the Decemberists at the Holland last Sunday and it was AWESOME. I was mind-blown. And Justin Townes Earle opened for them. And I cried at points because it was so good. Seriously though. Amazing.
If you get the chance, SEE THEM.
